At The African Food Co., we are more than just a farm—we are a diverse and dynamic team dedicated to sustainable agriculture and social impact. Swiss investors founded the company in 2009, driven by a vision of environmental responsibility and community development. Since then, we have grown into a leading producer of bananas, macadamias, and coffee in Mozambique.
We take immense pride in our 250 employees, of whom >50% are women. We foster equality in leadership, voice, and pay, ensuring that women hold key roles across our operations. Our management team is a rich mix of local experts, professionals from Maputo, and international specialists, bringing together knowledge and experience from different backgrounds to drive innovation and success.
We began preparing the land, ripping it open for cultivation and installing irrigation pipes and a cableway system, setting the foundation for our future farm.
We planted our first 3 hectares of bananas and completed the installation of the main irrigation infrastructure, marking the official start of production.
We achieved Organic Certification, finalized our cableway structure, and expanded significantly, creating over 400 jobs in the community.
We planted our first six hectares of macadamia trees, adding a new crop to our farm’s diverse production.
We planted our
first two hectares of Racemosa coffee trees, taking a bold step into the rare coffee industry.
